Capstone Progress Video
As seniors in the TAM community, we saw that there was a lack of personal creation and collaboration outside of the classroom. We felt that students creative wells were being dried up by the lack of agency so we decided to give it back to them by encouraging to pursue out of course work projects, visiting community exhibits and events for inspiration or simply seeking out fellow creatives in ATLAS to create with. In all, we wanted to provide a space that encouraged creative exposure beyond traditional curriculum.
And so, After Hours was realized to be a six week challenge game that helps spark those creative energies in new ways through craft, collaboration and community.Although we wanted to create a physical community, we decided to experiment by facilitating an online one that would encourage that collaboration in-person contact in our challenges. Up until this week, we are 5 weeks into the game and round 3 submissions are due tonight. The total user submissions are 20, so we are lacking engagement but we have conducted surveys to try to understand our audience better. Fortunately, we have gotten some really amazing feedback from our users:
It provides motivation and purpose towards finding inspiration for projects. It helps me become more of an independent worker rather than relying on professors to teach and assign me projects.
I love the museum challenges, but I'd like to see more specific graphic challenges such as design a poster background for an environmental agency or more themed ideas.
And we have found that many players feel that their lack of engagement is directly connected to the amount of projects that they have going on in their own classes at the moment.
Not playing due to a lack of time more than anything. The past two weeks have been extra busy with projects and I wanted to use my down time to relax instead of working on more projects, even if they were personal.
Right now, this is definitely on the back burner since I have a lot of writing and project classes this semester.
Please check out the video to understand out project fully up until this point.
