Artist Statement:

Actions have always spoke louder than words. Words only reveal so much meaning. This piece is to remind people of the simple interactions that can leave a lasting impression. Through an intimate experience between the individual and artwork, the piece highlights the importance of the encounter to expose the message rather than the language in the words.

Use the warmth of your hands to expose the message on the panels. Some panels have words, other don’t. The language is only the half of it. Go ahead touch the art, feel the process, uncover the message.

Final Iteration

My final iteration took a different approach to my initial specs and prototypes. I decided to go with one central piece that had a different message. With the inconsistency of the pigment to the paint, It was really difficult to get keep the letters hidden. So my message, was more about how we see words as always being necessary to communicate with others, however, the meaning or what we are trying to get across may have nothing to do with the verbal language being spoken. Meaning could come from the body or previous events or the tone. In all, I really see words just being a way to communicate a presence that is inviting the listener to pick up on the other cues rather than the whole meaning. So the thermochromatic painted words act as the underlying meaning that can only be uncovers by another individual and their present understanding.
